Established in July 2025, Heart’s Delight Roller Derby (HDRD) is a skater-operated 501(c)3 nonprofit roller derby league built by and for those who are passionate about the sport, its community, and its future. Committed to inclusivity, empowerment, and athletic excellence, we foster a culture of respect and resilience where every member has a voice and a place to grow. Our strength comes from our unity, both on and off the track, as we push our limits, support one another, and give back to our vibrant San Jose community. We play hard, stand strong, and lift each other up—because together, we are unstoppable.

Why Heart's Delight?

Before Santa Clara Valley became the tech hub of "Silicon Valley", it was better known in the early 20th century as "The Valley of Heart's Delight" due to the abundant farmland and climate that grew hundreds of orchards. The most popular crops at the time were apricots, prunes, plums, and cherries–many of which still grow in our very own backyards.

This idea of home-grown abundance is not only true of crops, but to roller derby as well. Our local skaters are strong, diverse, and resilient, and we are committed to creating an environment where everyone can grow to their fullest potential in the sport.
